Hey there! I am Barbara, known to many as an energetic, no-nonsense, hands-on, versatile, passionate, creative powerhouse. I love to bring ideas to life. With a background in anthropology and television, storytelling is my core strength. Authenticity is key to me, and I am dedicated to bring meaningful stories to light through producing, directing, editing, interviewing, or presenting. My goal is to create compelling stories that captivate and entertain, leaving a lasting impression.

1998-2002 & 2002-2004

My Academic journey

In 2002 I received my Bachelor’s degree in International Law, from The Hague University of Applied Sciences. I participated in an Exchange Program in Brussels, Belgium and completed an Internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs The Hague, The Netherlands. In 2004 I earned my Master of Social Science, Cultural Anthropology. An absolute highlight was my four-month residence and field research in the vibrant city of Mumbai, India.

2002-2004

Starting my career in media

At twenty-one, I began my journey in media as a freelance Director. Inspired by my father’s background and deep love and passion for the industry, a career in TV felt like the most natural path. While still studying, I started working as a freelance Producer, Researcher, Director, Editor, Video Editor, Scriptwriter, Format and Reporter for various corporate projects across the Netherlands, North America, Africa and Europe.

2005-2007

Travelling the world

After completing my degrees, I traveled solo for over a year and a half, driven by a deep curiosity for global cultures. My journey took me across Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and ending my travels in Nepal & Tibet to document a TV program with Wim Hof The Iceman at Basecamp Mount Everest in the role of Director.

2007

Launching FREQUIN

In 2007, my brother and I founded our very own video production company: FREQUIN PRODUCTIES. We created TV programs and commercials to documentaries, multi-day live events and branded content. As the media landscape evolved, we shifted focus from traditional TV to online content, establishing our bureau as a hub for storytelling and video marketing. I served as Executive Producer, Creative and Director. As the team expanded my role evolved to New Business and Executive Creative Director.

2017

Rebranding FREQUIN

In 2017, we rebranded to FREQUIN, adopting a more informal and approachable identity. The company had grown to a team of 15 dedicated professionals, serving an impressive array of clients, including Heineken, KLM, Davitamon, Maybelline, Samsung, funda, Gassan Diamonds, Burger King, Hugo Boss, New Fysic, Doppio, NS, Sonnema, Amsterdam Rai and many more. We also worked for various marketing-, advertising, and activation bureaus.

2020

New Headquarters & Service

In 2020 FREQUIN moved into a new, self-designed sustainable office, also marking our expansion into social advertising and enhancing digital connection with target audiences. Through strategic planning, compelling visual content and efficient online campaign management we took video marketing a step further and offered clients tailor-made content packages with premium video- and photo content for all channels, both online and offline. As Executive Creative Director, I worked closely with our marketing department and talented in-house production team to deliver engaging content and generate fresh ideas for branding and campaigns.

2024

New adventures!

At the start of 2024 I decided to leave FREQUIN to eagerly embrace the next adventure: freelance opportunities as a Senior Creative, Senior Creative Producer and Presenter. With pride in co-establishing and leading a succesful company alongside dedicated employees and inspiring clients, I am now ready to explore new paths and conquer new heights in my career.
